Unit for human rights
The Human Rights Unit (HRU) which was established by MTI performs its duties according to Administrative Direction No. 8/2005.
It works in implementation of Law against Discrimination and is charged to report based on the International Conventions for Protection of the Human Rights and Feedoms.
It deals with human rights issues, gender equality, equal apportunities, community issues, children rights and human trafficking issues.
It consists of three members: Coordinator for Human Rights and Gender Equality, Official for Communities and Equal Opportunities and Official for Human trafficking issues.
It contributes in realization of MTI s services for communities without gender discrimination and ethnic belonging and cooperates closely with Office for gender equality, CIO in PMO and Senior Advisors Unit for Human Rights in OESC.
HRU s Coordinator, being at the same time Official for Gender Issues and member of Interministrial Council for gender issues, works in implementation of the Law for Gender Equality in the following duties:
- Collects and facilitates data collection (statistics) on gender issues within MTI and contributes in integration of both genders in policies, laws, directions and sub-legal acts;
- Developes a monitoring system for Gender Plans application and evaluation;
- Advices in gender equality achievement and works closely with all departments, and based on a good coopearion it contributes in female position promotion;
- Advices the MTIOs Human Resources Unit in equal employement process for females and males and according to applicable legislation and participates in all selection and recruitment commissions;
- Together with Contacting Points for Gender Issues, stastical unit and Public Information Unit of the Ministry prepare materials relating to gender issues, stastics and publications;
- Keep contact with NGOs community and other potential partners for activity coordination in capacity developing meant for civil society, particularly for female groups;
- Participates in regular meetings of the Interministrial Council for Gender Equality and cooperates with all HRUs Coordinators and Officials for GE of all Ministries in coordination with GEO-and ZQM? in PMO.
- Prepares reports on monthly activities and any other relevant document for any analysis required by Permanent Secretary.
