Trade Department

Trade department in the framework of its competences exercises, follows, suggests and analyzes issues such as:

• Creation of the proper legal and harmonized framework of  WTO;
• Permanent commitment of MTI for Kosovo framing in regional initiatives and projects, and the possibility of creating a free trade zone in the Kosovo territory;
• Private sector development opens doors for the international market. The department will make concrete commitments to assist domestic producers in promoting their products into the foreign market;
• Drafting and implementing of policies for domestic and foreign trade;
• Makes proposals for bringing closer of domestic legal trade infrastructure to that of the EC;
• Prepares materials and participates in negotiations for making free trade agreements (FTA), as well as in negotiations for membership into international trade organizations;
• Carries out works about import and export licensing in its field of activity;
• Implementation of consumer protection measures;
• Competition in the domestic market;
• Following up of prices and provision of the market with strategic products for domestic consumers;
• Free movement of goods;
• Other works within the frame of its field of activity;
• Plans the trade activities development;
• Promotes the domestic and international trade;
• Regulates the facilitating regime for overseas trade;
• Establishes connections between enterprises for free trade at a domestic and international level;
• Gives advice about the international trade dispositions by cooperating with other authorities;
• Makes connections with international financial institutions;
• Initiates and acts in the field of trade preferences and free trade agreements;
• Takes measures for trade and export stimulation;
• Promotes export and Kosovo entrepreneurship to stimulate export;
• Creation of possibilities for domestic producers to penetrate into the foreign market;
• Creation of policies which institutionally support the participation of Kosovo into international markets, by increasing export;
• Private sector reinforcement, as well as the stimulation of foreign investments, oriented in production, focusing in production branches which would have a place in the regional and European market.
• Concrete support in the privatization of public enterprises;
• Free trade agreements with the countries in the region and further; works which should be intensified and accelerated.
• The department will promote and influence the competing capacities of domestic producers in the domestic and international market;
• Competition of the domestic products quality will be an important task of the department.
• Trade Department is consisted of two divisions:
